In our age, rapid developments with technology becoming a transformative power are reflected in all areas of life, information is globalized, people’s communication styles are changing and communication tools and equipment are constantly developing.
As a 21st century information, technology and communication society, individuals need to be equipped with the necessary skills and competencies in order to keep up with all these changes and developments and to make the best use of them.
This makes it compulsory for individuals and institutions to increase their quality of life in parallel with these changes in science and technology, to develop and change their knowledge and skills and to renew themselves in accordance with the age.
In this direction, in order to be able to effectively use, interpret and adapt to constantly renewed knowledge and skills, it is absolutely necessary to provide this skill in a gradual and planned manner from the basic education level in order for individuals to adapt to the digital world.
The European Union Commission states that teachers are the most important figures who will be role models in the process of gaining digital competence, which is a combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes specific to many fields, to the individual. In order to be able to use these innovations, the development of digital and technological skills, and in order to develop them, individuals need to continue to learn continuously, improve themselves and be in lifelong learning.
For 21st century individuals to have these two skills and competences is considered extremely important, and the most important task in raising individuals with these skills and competences falls to teachers.
Considering that teachers are the architects of the future and the pioneers of the development of society, they must first of all have all these competencies themselves in order to follow the innovations of the age,to always improve themselves and to teach the skills of the new century as role models to the generations they raise.Based on the DigCompEdu Framework, DiCoRe aims to equip teachers with digital professional skills and competences to be able to use appropriate and innovative pedagogical tools,to develop the skills their students need for the future and to re-engage students who tend to fail or need more time to learn when using traditional teaching methods.
In this context, using the most up-to-date digital tools, the 4 Training Modules will enable teachers to closely follow technological developments and use technology to contribute to their students’ learning.
Aware that digital literacy and lifelong learning are among the most important skills of the age and that these skills can only be developed in the new generation of individuals through teachers,DiCoRe can shed light on the strategy and roadmap needed for the renewal of teacher training programs.
